Ask the Virgo Girl: Dealing with an STD and being in the Public-Eye

We are so excited to partner with Dr. Walter Hidalgo with a goal of being more socially aware. Here, he answers your questions and shares advice on life and wellness while living in a social media driven world.

Six months ago I contracted HSV2 and HPV from my ex-boyfriend of five years. I have a new interest that I really like and want to be open and honest with him about my results, but I’m so afraid that if things go sour between us he will tell everyone and post it online. I’m a digital influencer and if this came out I’m terrified of what it would do to my brand. Please help me!!!

Advice from Dr. Walter Hidalgo: Not all of us have a good sense of character. However, if your feeling a little hesitant about telling your partner of your condition then he may not be a good fit for you. Furthermore, anyone who violates your privacy and tarnishes your name can be sued for defamation so it is not of good judgement on his part to post something that could potentially ruin your reputation. All in all, honesty will avoid any problems in the future especially if you plan on being intimate with your partner.
